GizMecano.net

Started as a personal experience in 2003 and now become truly a portfolio since 2010, GizMecano.net presents exhaustively the works, mainly in the web design field, of a new freelancer located up there on the moutain in the Swiss meadows.

A brief summary

Since I was connected to the internet and have immediatly begun to compose some pages, I was wondering if I may possibly put online some details about my own experiences in the web design field. Some empiric pages were lauched on the well-known French date of July 14th and were accumulated since the year 2003 under the generic name of laboratory.

A second version of this site was released online during the autumn 2004. It has plainly abandoned structuring based on tables and static and simple pages for benefiting of dynamical mechanisms and styles sheets. Moreover, these pages were this time designed only with my own graphical material — some photographical compositions mainly

Resulting from an enhanced experience in writing code, a third version of this laboratory gradually started to appear at the beginning of the year 2006. Conceived with a little more sober theme, this version marked very first experiments using vectorial graphisms, such as the logo and the main title, but also icons or backgrounds.

A fourth version appeared at the end of the year 2007. Result of a more mature reflexion about web design, the pages were trying to present a more serious face to the world, with a work on a more elegant theme or the integration of external codes. Unfortunately, due to a complex move on the following summer, this version wasn’t completed as expected and finaly stayed in its β phase.

Real turning point, the fifth and current version, launched at the anniversary date in 2010, has lost his dabbler status of laboratory to become the true showcase of a web design freelancer located up there on the mountain. Built from scratch using the most recent technics, this portfolio attempts to not reproduce the repetitive schema which is widely used for this kind of site: keeping in mind the previous experiences, emphasis will be particularly placed on history and evolution of the different works

The latest update

Phase 5.α
1 year 10 months 3 weeks 3 days ago

For his seventh birthday, this very first issue of the fifth version of this website changes now its perspective: it leaves the dabbler side to be clearly oriented towards a true digital portfolio, which displays different types of work, therefore including achievements in the web design field. For now, only these creations —designs, developments or integrations— are actually presented, but those from other kinds shouldn't delay to reappear at this new address.

For now, like any α release, this site is still far from complete and finished —but this kind of work is never really finished… The reappearance of a French version is notably programmed, and also a major reorganization of the archives, which should facilitate the observation of changes. Of course, it also lacks a number of key elements that will be added soon, as the contact form or rss feed.

Moreover, this new version is a first attempt in using some technics still in draft, like html 5 or css 3. All the necessary tools to implement these recent abilities aren’t really efficient at the moment: some operations as parsing the code or its validation still need time to be correctly done.
