la Clepsydre

Non-professional French-speaking magazine, La Clepsydre was devoted to fictions about Time. Subtitled a Venue about Time, its website, in addition to presenting the magazine, wanted to showcase news garnered throughout the world and to be a gathering place for as many resources as possible.

A brief summary

The very first version, launched in December 1996, was a single framed page which had for only objective to present the framework of the project.

The second version, which appeared at the end of Summer 1997, was a first attempt to build a multilingual website —in English, French and Portuguese— still in order to only present the magazine.

During Spring 1999, a third version was conceived, which supplemented this first outline of many references and resources on the topic of Time —books, comics, video games, et cætera.

The fourth version, which appeared the following year, consisted mainly of a restructuration of the pages —always using non-dynamic html pages and layout made with tables—, an harmonization of design and the addition of two translations of the introduction —in Italian and Spanish. Unfortunately, due to a lack of availability, the site wasn’t updated from October 2001…

Exactly three years later, it was totally removed to be only replaced by a unique page presenting the last publication. This fifth version had been expected as temporary, but run out of time, as the project is currently stalled, this page is now the only testimony of La Clepsydre online.

With the publication of the fourth issue of La Clepsydre, in partnership with Yellow Submarine, one of the oldest French small press magazines, the previous version of the website is being retired and substituted by a single page, optimistically subtitled temporary release, because for the moment, none of the drafts that were made were convincing or functional.
